Entry 1:  getting to south Africa

After the red eye flight to Heathrow I’m in the Galleries Club Lounge in the Brithish Airways Terminal.

They talk about this place like it’s the most remarkable place ever…and it is nice.  Y’know, liquor, food, etc.   But wow to hear people talk about it before my trip I expected to be greeted by Jesus himself and get a rubdown and a foot massage…not from Jesus of course..he’s too busy greeting people at the door I was thinking.

Anyway, yes there are showers here and spacious bathrooms, biscuits and cappucino and every liquor imaginable and computers and many spots to sit down and pleasant people and good views of the runways and outdoors…wait…..I DO love it here.

Forget going on to S. Africa, I’m staying here in the lounge….what’s for dinner??

Entry 2:  Just arrived in Capetown South Africa

After a trip of 31 or so hours Capetown is a welcome site.

By the way, as I have noted, I don’t travel a whole lot and have to remember that on those long flights the attendants don’t seem to like me asking “Are we gonna be there soon” and “How long before we’re there” and “How much longer”.   The first 9 hours they seemed okay with it but the final 4 they seemed a bit irritated….and they DEFINITELY don’t like it when you knock on the cockpit door to ask.

Gonna need to get some local currency organized.  It’s the Rand down here…since I didn’t bring any rand with me exactly how do I proceed….

It’s ATM machine or  I have to get a job here quickly..one that I can quit in 3 days so I can go on to my next stop.
